Are essential oils safe to use during pregnancy?
If you are pregnant we recommend avoiding essential oils within the first trimester. Use essential oils with care after the first trimester, if you wish to use them for aromatherapy or diluted into a carrier oil for topical application please consult with your medical doctor.
Can I use essential oils for children?
Yes, essential oils can be used on children, we recommend the following as guidelines.
Babies (0 to 24 months) babies
Essential oils are considered too strong for use on baby’s skin and a little overwhelming on their developing systems. We can still use aromatherapy in a diffuser, making sure to choose gentle and suitable oils.
Children (2 to 8 years)
Children often love essential oils and using them through aromatherapy. We recommend Using a low dilution of 1% when applying to your child’s skin. We recommend using gentler essential oils such as Lavender, Rose, Mandarin, Sandalwood and Neroli.
I have sensitive skin, can I use essential oils?
Before using any essential oil, we advise that you patch test 1 x drop on your wrist and leave as long as it normally takes for your skin to respond, or for 24 hours. Check for any potential reactions or allergies. You can try using essential oils with a carrier oil first. If you experience any uncomfortable sensations like redness or irritation apply carrier oil to the area to dilute the essential oil and discontinue use.
If you have sensitive skin, we recommend you slowly introduce new products into your regime, one product at a time. This will give your skin time to adjust.
Can I use Alkimsta essential oils on my pets?
Essential Oils can be toxic to pets. never leave bottles open or in reach of animals. Each pet will differ, so please use caution when diffusing oils around pets. Watch out for changes in their behaviour, such as leaving the room while oils are burning or changes in eating habits. If you notice changes then we recommend stopping using that particular oil.
Essential Oils Potentially Toxic to pets: These oils are known to contain phenols and be toxic to cats/dogs. Peppermint oil, Citrus oils (including lemon oil), Tea Tree Oil, Pine oil, Eucalyptus oil, Cinnamon oil, Ylang-ylang oil.
The higher the concentration of essential oil, the greater the risk to your pet. If your pet ingests any oils accidentally, contact the veterinarian immediately.
Can Alkimista essential oils be ingested?
Essential oils are compounds extracted from plants. The oils capture the plant’s scent and flavour also called its ‘essence’. Unique aromatic compounds give each essential oil its characteristic essence.
Essential oils are not meant to be swallowed. We recommend that essential oils are not ingested and in the case of accidental consumption please seek immediate medical attention. Keep out of reach of children.
Are essential oils contraindicated?
Some citrus oils are photosensitising when used in direct sunlight. Citrus oils can increase sun sensitivity so it is best to avoid the sun for 12 hours after applying. Certain oils are best avoided during pregnancy, especially during the 1st trimester. If uncertain, please check with your health practitioner first and read our disclaimer.
What is the expiry date on essential oils?
All Alkimista essential oils have a guaranteed shelf-life of 12 months unopened. Products should be used within 6 months of opening. Always replace the lid after use and keep watertight. Products should be stored below in a dark and cool place below 30 degrees Celsius.
Are all the ingredients in your essential oils from Australia?
All Alkimsta products are made in Australia, however, not all ingredients are sourced from Australia. Due to climatic, geographic and season availability, not all ingredients may not be obtained in Australia. How can I use Alkimista essential oils?
There are many ways you can use Alkimista essential oils, here are a few of our favourites.
DIFFUSION: Enjoy your favourite essential oils in your home or office. Add 2-3 drops of oil to the diffuser. (Cool mist types are preferable as heat may reduce some of the benefits).
INHALATION: Clear your mind then inhale directly from an open bottle or rub a drop of oil between your palms and breathe in the aroma. Repeat as needed throughout the day.
BATHS: Add 3-6 drops of your chosen oil to bath water while the tub is filling. This can be combined with 1/2 cup of bath or Epsom salts. Avoid using cinnamon, cassia, oregano, wintergreen and lemongrass in baths as they may t irritate sensitive skin.
REFRESHING SPRAY: Fill a small spray bottle with distilled water, add 10 drops of your favourite oil, shake well and spray onto the body or use as a room spray.
MASSAGE: Combine 3-5 drops of your essential oil of choice to 15 ml of carrier oil (eg. coconut or almond) for body massage.

For the security and tracking of your parcel, we mark all shipments as requiring a “Signature on Delivery”. If you would like to change this to “Authority to Leave”, you will need to access the Australia Post MyPost website and update your preferences.
International Shipping is available to most overseas countries! Shipping rates will be calculated upon checkout.
Shipping charges are based upon the value, weight, volume and destination of your order. Once your order is in the shopping cart you can select your destination country to see the shipping options available.

Orders shipped outside of Australia may be subjected to taxes, customs duties and other fees by the destination country. The recipient is responsible for these fees. If the purchaser refuses a shipment, they are responsible for any import fees incurred, cost of returning the shipment and the original shipping charges. Alkimista is not responsible for the return of shipments or reimbursement of lost packages or damaged products. Items sent via Australia Post are not automatically covered for loss or damage. However, Extra Cover is available for items valued up to AU$5,000 (this may vary for some countries). It covers against loss, theft or damage of your parcel while being shipped by Australia Post. This is available as an option during the check out process.

Possible Delays
All shipments may encounter delays due to high volume or bad weather that extends beyond the expected delivery time frame provided by the carrier. Cancellations

Are essential oils safe to use during pregnancy?
If you are pregnant we recommend avoiding essential oils within the first trimester. Use essential oils with care after the first trimester, if you wish to use them for aromatherapy or diluted into a carrier oil for topical application please consult with your medical doctor.
Can I use essential oils for children?
Yes, essential oils can be used on children, we recommend the following as guidelines.
Babies (0 to 24 months) babies
Essential oils are considered too strong for use on baby’s skin and a little overwhelming on their developing systems. We can still use aromatherapy in a diffuser, making sure to choose gentle and suitable oils.
Children (2 to 8 years)
Children often love essential oils and using them through aromatherapy. We recommend Using a low dilution of 1% when applying to your child’s skin. We recommend using gentler essential oils such as Lavender, Rose, Mandarin, Sandalwood and Neroli.
I have sensitive skin, can I use essential oils?
Before using any essential oil, we advise that you patch test 1 x drop on your wrist and leave as long as it normally takes for your skin to respond, or for 24 hours. Check for any potential reactions or allergies. You can try using essential oils with a carrier oil first. If you experience any uncomfortable sensations like redness or irritation apply carrier oil to the area to dilute the essential oil and discontinue use.
If you have sensitive skin, we recommend you slowly introduce new products into your regime, one product at a time. This will give your skin time to adjust.
Can I use Alkimsta essential oils on my pets?
Essential Oils can be toxic to pets. never leave bottles open or in reach of animals. Each pet will differ, so please use caution when diffusing oils around pets. Watch out for changes in their behaviour, such as leaving the room while oils are burning or changes in eating habits. If you notice changes then we recommend stopping using that particular oil.
Essential Oils Potentially Toxic to pets: These oils are known to contain phenols and be toxic to cats/dogs. Peppermint oil, Citrus oils (including lemon oil), Tea Tree Oil, Pine oil, Eucalyptus oil, Cinnamon oil, Ylang-ylang oil.
The higher the concentration of essential oil, the greater the risk to your pet. If your pet ingests any oils accidentally, contact the veterinarian immediately.
Can Alkimista essential oils be ingested?
Essential oils are compounds extracted from plants. The oils capture the plant’s scent and flavour also called its ‘essence’. Unique aromatic compounds give each essential oil its characteristic essence.
Essential oils are not meant to be swallowed. We recommend that essential oils are not ingested and in the case of accidental consumption please seek immediate medical attention. Keep out of reach of children.
Are essential oils contraindicated?
Some citrus oils are photosensitising when used in direct sunlight. Citrus oils can increase sun sensitivity so it is best to avoid the sun for 12 hours after applying. Certain oils are best avoided during pregnancy, especially during the 1st trimester. If uncertain, please check with your health practitioner first and read our disclaimer.
What is the expiry date on essential oils?
All Alkimista essential oils have a guaranteed shelf-life of 12 months unopened. Products should be used within 6 months of opening. Always replace the lid after use and keep watertight. Products should be stored below in a dark and cool place below 30 degrees Celsius.
Are all the ingredients in your essential oils from Australia?
All Alkimsta products are made in Australia, however, not all ingredients are sourced from Australia. Due to climatic, geographic and season availability, not all ingredients may not be obtained in Australia. Our essential oils are sourced from countries where the plant material meets the high standards we set. The ingredients are sourced from countries aligned with our manufacturing ethical sourcing code compliance and quality assurance standards.

How can I use Alkimista essential oils?
There are many ways you can use Alkimista essential oils, here are a few of our favourites.
DIFFUSION: Enjoy your favourite essential oils in your home or office. Add 2-3 drops of oil to the diffuser. (Cool mist types are preferable as heat may reduce some of the benefits).
INHALATION: Clear your mind then inhale directly from an open bottle or rub a drop of oil between your palms and breathe in the aroma. Repeat as needed throughout the day.
BATHS: Add 3-6 drops of your chosen oil to bath water while the tub is filling. This can be combined with 1/2 cup of bath or Epsom salts. Avoid using cinnamon, cassia, oregano, wintergreen and lemongrass in baths as they may t irritate sensitive skin.
REFRESHING SPRAY: Fill a small spray bottle with distilled water, add 10 drops of your favourite oil, shake well and spray onto the body or use as a room spray.
MASSAGE: Combine 3-5 drops of your essential oil of choice to 15 ml of carrier oil (eg. coconut or almond) for body massage.

Upon placement of your order, you will be sent an order confirmation to your email address. This also confirms that we have received your order. If you have not received an order confirmation, please confirm that you have completed the payment process.

Australian Shipping
For the security and tracking of your parcel, we mark all shipments as requiring a “Signature on Delivery”. If you would like to change this to “Authority to Leave”, you will need to access the Australia Post MyPost website and update your preferences.
International Shipping is available to most overseas countries! Shipping rates will be calculated upon checkout.
Shipping charges are based upon the value, weight, volume and destination of your order. Once your order is in the shopping cart you can select your destination country to see the shipping options available.
Please note: International shipping is not included in our free shipping offer.
Orders shipped outside of Australia may be subjected to taxes, customs duties and other fees by the destination country. The recipient is responsible for these fees. If the purchaser refuses a shipment, they are responsible for any import fees incurred, cost of returning the shipment and the original shipping charges. This amount will be deducted from the merchandise refund plus a 5% restocking fee.
Alkimista is not responsible for the return of shipments or reimbursement of lost packages or damaged products. Items sent via Australia Post are not automatically covered for loss or damage. However, Extra Cover is available for items valued up to AU$5,000 (this may vary for some countries). It covers against loss, theft or damage of your parcel while being shipped by Australia Post. This is available as an option during the check out process.

Delivery Times
Australian Domestic Post: If ordered before 2 pm AEST delivery may take up to two days via the express post network (Australian capital cities and major metro areas). Regional areas outside the express post network may be 2-5 days.
Australian domestic orders Are fulfilled through Australia post with an estimated shipment time of 3-10 business days.
International Orders
Are fulfilled through Australia Post International or courier with an estimated shipment time of 2-3 weeks.
Please note that shipment time is not guaranteed by Alkimista or Australia Post. Alkimista is not responsible for an order once it is in the Australia Post system.
To ensure your delivery arrives to the correct destination and on time, please ensure that someone is available to sign and collect the delivery.
Possible Delays
All shipments may encounter delays due to high volume or bad weather that extends beyond the expected delivery time frame provided by the carrier. International shipments are subject to customs procedures leaving Australia and arriving in the destination country which may cause further delays. While these delays are uncommon, they are a reality of shipping logistics especially with international shipping. Please be advised that tracking scans may no longer update once a shipment has left Australia.
Cancellations
You may email our customer care team within 1 hour of placing your order during business hours to request a cancellation. Once we have begun to prepare an order, it is not possible to cancel. Refunds for cancellations are applied once we provide confirmation.
